Lesson 11 — Exports, filings and comparison
Export. Both reports export the view you are looking at as XLSX or PDF. Whatever you have set — period, drafts included or not, comparison on — is what exports. Use XLSX for anyone who will work with the numbers and PDF for the file.
Recording a filing. When you have submitted a return, record it under Configuration → Tax Filings (same UAE Tax Reports group): the period, the net payable, and a status you mark Filed. On the reports, the Save Filing button does this from the screen you are on.
This matters more than it looks. A Tax Filing is a snapshot of what you actually filed. Ledgers keep moving — a late credit note, a correction, a reclassification — so the report re-run next March will not necessarily reproduce the number you submitted last October. Without a snapshot you cannot answer "what did we file, and why is the ledger different now?" With one, the difference is a two-minute conversation.
Compare to prior. Turn it on and choose how many prior periods to line up. Quarter-on-quarter is the review that catches classification drift. If box 4 doubled and box 1b halved, something changed in how supplies are being tagged, and you want to know that before the FTA does.
What the reports never do: they post nothing. They read journal items and compute totals. Running them cannot change your accounts. Only Tax Filings write anything, and only the snapshot you asked for.
