  1. Classify one product properly, today. Open a sweetened drink in your catalogue, tick Excise Good on the Excise tab, choose the category, and enter Net Volume (L) and Sugar (g/100ml) from an analysis you can actually produce — including naturally occurring sugar where the drink also contains added sugar. One product done correctly teaches more than a second reading of this course.
  2. Run one declaration end to end. Create an Import declaration for a real consignment, confirm it, then open Accounting → Reporting → UAE Excise Return and find your own figure in it. If you have not installed the module yet, it is listed with the rest of the suite on the Odoone apps page.
  3. Put the dates in a calendar. The 15th of every month, as a recurring deadline for the previous month's return and payment. And 1 September 2026, if you sell liquids for electronic smoking devices, so that the announced AED 1 per millilitre minimum excise price does not arrive as a surprise.
