Setting up the UAE layer
What you will be able to do when you finish: confirm that a company is fiscally in the UAE and fix it when it is not, find the one page from which every UAE feature is switched on, read all twelve toggles and say which of them your business actually needs, explain why ticking a feature does not configure it, open the UAE Company Setting tab and know why it is empty, let per-company setup run itself without worrying that it will overwrite your work, and finish knowing exactly which course to take next.
Who this is for. You are the person who has just been handed a UAE database and asked to make it fit UAE requirements. You may be the owner, the finance manager, or the consultant doing the first setup. This course assumes no UAE compliance knowledge and no administration experience beyond finding the Settings menu. It is the first course to take after Getting Started with Odoone, and every other course in the UAE programme assumes you have done it.
How to follow along. Every screen, menu and label named here is quoted from the Odoone Localization — United Arab Emirates user guide, word for word, so that what you read matches what you click. The walkthrough company — Marina Ridge Trading LLC, a Dubai trading company — was built for this course rather than taken from a live database, so read its choices as an illustration rather than as a recommendation for yours. There is nothing to calculate in this course and no figure to type; there are only decisions to make, and the point of the course is to make them deliberately.
This content is general information for UAE businesses, not tax, legal, or financial advice. Rules change and cases differ — speak to a qualified advisor about your situation. This course cites no legal figure at all. It is the gateway to the programme, and the law arrives in the courses that follow it.
One sentence to carry through the whole course. Ticking a feature installs it; it does not configure it. Almost everything that stalls a new administrator in their first week comes back to that single line, which is why Lesson 1 spends its time there and why Lesson 3 hands you the map of where the configuration actually happens.
