What to do next
- Open your settings page today and read the clearing mode. If it says Manual clearing entry, tell whoever imports your bank statements that cheque lines are matched against entries the module already posted, never encoded again. That one sentence prevents the only double count this module can produce.
- Check the three interim account balances against the paper in your drawer. PDC Receivable should equal the post-dated cheques you are holding, Cheques Under Collection should equal what is with the bank, and Cheques Payable should equal the cheques you have written that have not been debited. If a balance does not match the paper, the difference is a cheque whose state was never updated. The rest of the track sits on the Odoone course list.
- Register every guarantee cheque you are holding or have given. Purpose set to Guarantee, holder recorded, expiry recorded, no journal entry anywhere. Most companies find at least one they had forgotten, and finding it in a register is considerably better than finding it in a dispute.
