  1. The Central Bank unveiled two symbols on 27 March 2025. Which one is encoded, and as what? → The physical-currency symbol, encoded as U+20C3 UAE DIRHAM SIGN — the Digital Dirham symbol is a separate design and is not the encoded one
  2. Why does the module carry its own font? → Because Unicode 18.0, which carries U+20C3, is not published until September 2026, so virtually no operating system or browser font has the glyph yet
  3. You enable the toggle in a database holding several companies. Who sees the new sign? → All of them — res.currency is database-global, so the AED symbol is shared across every company
  4. Your VAT return is due next week. Does enabling the sign change what you file? → No — returns, e-invoicing files and bank files use the ISO 4217 code AED, never the display symbol
